Description: This program will provide information about two of the five statements dying people focus on: “I’m sorry” and “I forgive you.” We will examine the ways Jewish people practice the art of apologizing and forgiving every year on Yom Kippur and how practicing benefits everyone.

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

∙ Identify the five statements dying people focus on at the end of life.

∙ Identify how rituals help us practice apologizing and forgiving before a diagnosis.

∙ Recognize the ways to reduce emotional suffering at the end of life through meaningful amends.

∙ Recognize how death doulas, therapists, and others can support clients when addressing fears and reducing them through active forgiveness and sincere apologies.
